Look To The Lord

Without God's constant influence in our lives, it's all too easy to loosen our grip of faith and to trust our own footing more. When we rely on yesterday's laurels to help us navigate through today's trials, we become autopilot Christians.

Have you ever found yourself going through the motions in your prayers? Saying one thing while thinking about another? I know I have. I have so much scripture stored up in my soul from years of praying God's word, I can instinctively pray scripture with my mouth and run through my grocery list in my mind. And this is not a virtue!

Jesus said, "people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me" Matthew 15:8. Exactly.

When I catch myself saying one thing and thinking another, I know it's time to re-engage my faith. I have learned that when I grab hold of my present concerns, wrap my arms around the present moment, and bring my whole self into the presence of God, power, insight, and revelation returned to my soul.

Engage your faith and listen for the voice of God. The solution is delightfully and wonderfully simple. Look to the Lord and His strength and trust that He's just a prayer away.

With Love,
